Grow, Heal, and Flourish
Welcome to Be Still Counselling
I provide compassionate counselling for teens and adults, both virtually and in-person so you can choose what’s right for you. Together we’ll help you work through challenges, gain insight, and build tools to create meaningful change. Learn more about my approach and experience below, and reach out when you’re ready to grow, heal, and flourish.
Grow
To grow is to expand your understanding of yourself and the world, learning from both challenges and successes.
It means developing new skills, shifting unhelpful patterns, and deepening self-awareness and resilience. Growth is about becoming more aligned with who you are and the life you want to create.
Heal
To heal is to move toward wholeness, find relief from pain, and nurture self-compassion and inner strength.
It may involve processing past experiences or discovering new ways to care for yourself. Healing is about reclaiming well-being and stepping into life with greater ease and self-acceptance.
Flourish
To flourish is to feel grounded and fulfilled, moving through life’s challenges with purpose and resilience.
It may mean reconnecting with joy and creativity, finding balance, or building a life that reflects your values. Flourishing is about thriving in a way that feels authentic and sustainable.
How I Help
I'm a Registered Social Worker (RSW) with a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and a Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of Toronto. I have more than 25 years of experience providing mental health support and counseling in primary care, hospital, and private practice settings, and I continually expand my knowledge and skills to ensure I provide relevant and effective support.
My approach is holistic and compassionate, meeting you where you are and helping you uncover your strengths, gain insights, and develop practical skills to navigate life's challenges with confidence. You can learn to support yourself, make meaningful changes, and create the life you want to live. A life with less worry and overthinking, free from guilt, shame, and regret.
Common Support Areas
Everyone’s experiences are unique, and there are many reasons you might reach out for support.
Specializations
Women’s Health and Wellness
I specialize in supporting women (or their partners) through challenges related to pregnancy, infertility, fertility treatments, pregnancy loss, postpartum adjustments, anxiety and depression, parenting, perimenopause, and menopause. These experiences can be complicated and challenging, and I provide a compassionate and informed space to support you through these adjustments. I have a personal journey with these issues, which gives me a unique ability to relate, encourage, and help you navigate them.
Supporting Highly Sensitive & Deeply Responsive Individuals
Some people think and feel deeply, and are strongly impacted by their environment or the emotions of others. The trait of High Sensitivity (HSP) or Sensory Processing Sensitivity (SPS) can lead to feelings of being different, anxious, and overwhelmed. I can help you work through these feelings, build resilience, and embrace the strengths of high sensitivity, all while fostering self-compassion and self-acceptance. As an HSP myself, I deeply understand how transformative it can be to learn to support yourself in this way.
Therapeutic Techniques and Approaches
I use a range of evidence-based practices to best support your needs. As we start our counselling sessions, we’ll find the combination of approaches that fit best and resonate with you. All of these approaches are trauma-informed, which means recognizing how past difficult and painful experiences can shape a person’s thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.
Attachment-Based Therapy
Explores how your early experiences and caregiver relationships have shaped your emotional patterns, and how they may still be influencing your present struggles.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Based on the idea that our thoughts, feelings, actions, and physical sensations are all connected. Together, we’ll identify negative thought patterns and behaviors contributing to your distress, and work to replace them with healthier, more accurate ways of thinking and behaving.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
Helps you cultivate relaxation and peace while releasing negative or stressful judgments. It teaches you to respond to emotional stressors reflectively, rather than reflexively. This approach can make life more enjoyable and less stressful.
Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC)
Focuses on building solutions rather than dwelling on problems. This approach emphasizes your strengths and resources to help you create a vision of the future where your challenges are resolved. We work together to uncover actionable steps toward achieving your goals and moving forward.
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)
Focuses on building solutions rather than dwelling on problems. This approach emphasizes your strengths and resources to help you create a vision of the future where your challenges are resolved. We work together to uncover actionable steps toward achieving your goals and moving forward.
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
Focuses on developing mindfulness, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and emotion regulation. You’ll learn to identify and change negative thinking patterns, improving self-esteem, joy, and relationship connections.
Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) Tapping
Is a powerful mind-body approach using acupressure points to release stress, anxiety, and unresolved emotional pain. It is especially useful to help manage stress, pain, anxiety/fears, depression, and more.
Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) Work
Learn how to manage overwhelm, harness your unique strengths, and thrive as a person with the HSP trait.
You don't have to navigate life's challenges alone.
I'd love to support you in uncovering greater clarity, resilience, and self-compassion as you move toward healing and growth.
